2012 Board Nominees

According to our church constitution, it is the responsibility of the nominating committee to select men to serve on the church board.  In keeping with the biblical instruction found in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 & Titus 1:5-9, a nominee should demonstrate spiritual maturity, manage his household well, manifest a servant’s heart, and endeavor to live his life above reproach.

The following nominees will be presented for congregational vote at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, February 26:

Elder (three year term**):

Glen Thornton - Glen and his wife, Nancy, have attended Glenwood for almost 45 years.  Glen has served on the church board for almost as long.  They have four adult children.  They are active members of Glenwood and  possess many years of mature Christian faith as well as experience as successful business owners.  Glen’s wisdom and insight are valuable additions to the elder board.  We appreciate his desire and willingness to serve on the board for another term.

Brad Holten - Brad and his family have been at Glenwood since 2007.  He and his wife, Jorene, have three children.  Brad has participated in a variety of ministries with Glenwood, serving in children’s and middle school in the past.  He currently leads a LIFE Group and is often seen playing the drums with our music team.  Brad is a 7th grade science teacher at Covington Middle School, where he also helps to lead a Young Life ministry.  We welcome Brad’s energy and passion to serve Jesus Christ and Glenwood as one of our elders.

Dr. Stephen Kim (**completing remaining 2 years of a 3 year term) - Stephen and his family have been a part of Glenwood for ten years.  He and his wife, Sophia, have two daughters.  During and after seminary, Stephen served in pastoral positions at two different churches in Texas.  Stephen is now a professor at Multnomah Biblical Seminary.  He teaches in our Adult Equipping classes and occasionally preaches on our Sunday mornings.  He brings many years of pastoral experience and biblical training to his service with Glenwood.  We look forward to Stephen’s presence on the elder board.

Deacon (two year term):

Stu Kilby - Stu and his wife, Marcia, have attended Glenwood for over 20 years and served extensively in many areas.  Stu has served on Glenwood’s church board for the last four years.  His oversight of the benevolence fund is a valued contribution to work of the deacons.  For twelve years, Stu has played at active role in the Hats & Gloves ministry with Glenwood and has been a volunteer with Vancouver’s Share House.  We appreciate his continued service to the Glenwood church body on the deacon board.

Frank Haylett - Frank and his wife, Betty, have been at Glenwood for eight years.  They have two adult children.  Frank and Betty have participated in various ministries during that time, including currently leading LIFE Group.  They both seek out opportunities to make disciples of Jesus Christ, in their home and with the church body.  Frank served on a Doro G.O. Team to South Sudan to assist the ministry of Dr. Rob Congdon.  Frank both served as an Army officer and worked as an international businessman for many years prior to his retirement and is gifted in administration.  We look forward to his service on the board as a deacon.
