Bryan & Rachel Smith - Tanzania

Bryan and Rachel Smith serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators, working in analyzing languages that have not yet had the Bible made available.  Language surveyors work closely with local churches to assess the need for new translations. They use advanced research methods and tools to determine how different a language is from other languages in the same linguistic family. This helps determine what languages should be targeted for new translation projects.

Bryan grew up near Chicago, and Rachel (née Friehauf) grew up in Vancouver, and was active with her family at Glenwood. They met at the Summer Institute of Linguistics when both were preparing for global ministry with Wycliffe's translation work.  They and their two young sons are living in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
