This website aims to have a lot of relevant information for the people of Glenwood Community Church, for those curious about our church body, and for those interested in the Jesus of the Bible. By hopefully being both easy to use and aesthetically pleasing, we aim to enhance communication and relationships within the church body, thus further exemplifying a community that loves God and others.
To be in community we must spend time together. To spend time together, we have to be intentional about our relationships and make time to be together. Thus we interact with one another in lots of different ways (including electronically; see our Blog for example), we have a wide variety of events (see our Calendar), and we desire to keep each other informed of the happenings in our lives and the church body (see our News Archives). This is all done to facilitate and enhance our relationships.
Yet there is an inherent danger in using electronic media to the detriment of face to face interactions.
"Churches have begun to use blogs, chat areas, and electronic bulletin boards in their efforts to build community. Yet there remains the danger of people finding connection through these electronic forms and believing they have found genuine intimacy. This can cause them to miss out on authentic community with the people they worship with each week." -- Shane Hipps, The Hidden Power of Electronic Culture, p 112
