Frequently Asked Questions
(in no particular order)
Do I need to sign up for an account? What are the benefits of having an account?
- While you don't need to have an account to access a wide variety of information, registering for an account has a number of advantages. A few are listed below:
- With an account you can join groups (see below) and receive important ministry and missionary updates via email.
- When signed in with your account, you will be able to see certain Glenwood family news (such as an engagement announcement) and events (such as weddings or baby showers) which wouldn't be advertised to the general public.
- An account is needed in order to be given access to secure pages. For example, if you serve in Children's Ministry and need access to the substitute contact list, your ministry supervisor can only grant you access to that list if you have an account.
How do I sign up for an account?
- Head over to the registration page.
- Enter a Username and an email address.
- Enter your password on the first password line. A “password strength” meter will appear. This helps to guide you in selecting a suitable password. Aim for at least a “medium strength” password; a high strength password is obviously more favorable. Once you have determined a password, confirm your password by entering it on the second password line.
- Indicate whether or not you want the remaining information included in a future church directory (regarding a church directory, see below).
- Enter your information.
- Enter the “Captcha” code provided to you in the image.
- Click “Create new account.”
- If all has gone well, you will be taken to the homepage and you will see a “Status” update above the rotating graphics indicating, “Registration successful. You are now logged in.”
- You should also receive a confirmation email at the email address you provided.
How can I tell if I am signed in or not?
- If you are signed in to an account, there will be a green button in the upper right hand corner that reads: "My Info / Log Out." If you are not signed in, the green button will read: "Login / Register." If you are searching for something and just can't seem to find it, you'll want to double-check to make sure you're logged in.
What are "groups"? Why would I want to join a group?
- The various ministries and missionaries listed under the Local Mission and Global Mission menus function as "groups." Groups are like mini-websites within the greater website. There you will find news, events and informational sub-pages related to that particular ministry or missionary. As noted above, the main advantage to joining a group is the ability to receive important email notifications regarding group news and events sent out by the group's leader(s).
How do I join a group?
- Once you have registered for an account and are signed in, navigate to the particular group(s) you would like to join. On the right hand side, there is a box with the group’s title that has a link for joining. Click “Join.” You will be taken to a confirmation page. Confirm that you would like to join the group.
Is there a plan for an online church directory?
- Yes. Once we have enough people signed up with accounts to make such a directory useable and useful, we will proceed with plans for a secure online directory system for the church family. More information will be made available as that time approaches.
Where do I find recordings of the sermons? Are the entire worship services available online?
- Our sermons are organzied by sermon series and can be found under the Sundays menu. Current Sermon Series will display the most recent sermon series while All Sermon Series is our sermon series archive. Sermons can also be found in the main audio archive (available on the Audio page under the Media menu). We currently do not have the resources in place to upload the entire worship services to the church website. If you would like, you can request a CD of a particular Sunday's service by signing up at the Ministry Information Table in the church foyer.
I'm looking for a sermon from a couple years ago. Where are the sermons from 2010 and prior?
- All sermons from 2011 have been uploaded. Sermon series from previous years will be uploaded as time allows. If you have a particular sermon you are interested in, please let us know via the contact form (make sure to mark the category as "website question") and we can put that sermon's series near the top of the to-do list.
Where do I find recordings of the Adult Sunday School classes?
Is there a podcast available for the audio that gets posted on the church website?
How do I return to the homepage from anywhere on the site?
- Click the Glenwood Community Church Logo in the upper left.
I would like to delete my account. How do I do that?
Who designed our website?
- Mustard Seed Media. They are a web-design company in Michigan. Their stated purpose: To put powerful and beautiful websites into the hands of small and midsized churches (and other Christian ministries). They have been a wonderful help to us, and we heartily recommend them to others looking to build a new church or para-church website.
