Igbaja scholarship fund
In addition to support for the
Kaysers, a scholarship fund has been established in Glenwood's
budget that pays the tuition and expenses for students in need at
Igbaja Seminary. Over the years, this has enabled a
number of students to attend the school who would not otherwise

contributions
in adult Sunday morning classes also go toward this fund.

Merger, Haiti Student Sponsorship Program
location: Merger de Sibert, Haiti
led by: Johny and Rosadite Philippe
Complexe Educatif Nouvelle Vie (CENV)
(New Life Education Complex)
CENV began in 2005 and currently there are 92 students and 8 teachers on staff. CENV functions under very limited and difficult conditions due to the low economic level of those families whose children
attend this school. Many parents are not able to pay for their children's schooling. As a result, CENV must depend on outside help in order for the school to function. Their needs include funds for school
materials, for school equipment (benches, tables, chalk boards), and for salaries for professors.
Each child from Merger who is helped and supported is most likely one fewer who will end up on the streets and in a life of crime.
The objective of the Merger Student Sponsorship Program at Glenwood is to help CENV fulfill its vision and mission.

Bryan and Rachel Smith serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators,
working in analyzing languages that have not yet had the Bible
made available. Currently they are on furlough in the United
States.
Language surveyors work closely with local churches to assess
the need for new translations. They use advanced research methods
and tools to determine how different a language is from other
languages in the same linguistic family. This helps determine what
languages should be targeted for new translation projects.
Bryan grew up near Chicago, and Rachel (née Friehauf) grew
up in Vancouver, and was active with her family at Glenwood. They
met at the Summer Institute of Linguistics when both were
preparing for global ministry with Wycliffe's translation work.

Stucks are now based in Quito, Ecuador.
In addition to his administrative work for Avant Ministries,
Bob will be developing means to work more effectively with
Ecuador's national church leaders. The Stucks also hope to enhance

Global Outreach Teams
G.O. Teams are small, high impact teams that work on tasks
in a cross cultural setting. Typically, they are made up of
individuals with particular skills relating to the needed task.
In May, 2007, a team travelled to Sudan to help begin
reconstruction of a medical clinic in Doro.
A July 2008 team ministered alongside John and Brooke Stevens in Slovenia
working with unchurched young people.
Youth Group Teams
Since 1988 the Youth Group Short Term Mission (STM) teams have
worked in cross-cultural settings during the spring and summer,
often traveling to Mexico to work with YUGO Mission and to Canada,
where they participate in the ministry of Rock Nest Ranch that
ministers to local native Americans.
In 2008 The Youth Group STM team traveled to
Orofino, Idaho to minister to the local community through practical service projects. The
team was featured by KLEW-TV in Lewiston on their evening newscast
-- check out
the
video!
Individual youth group members often participate in ministry
opportunities as well. The rigors of travel, the relative lack of
amenities, and the need to accept high levels of responsibility is
part of the SMT experience.
