Pastor Search Committee Updates

Update from the Pastor Search Committee - January 14, 2024

 

  • As stated in the Glenwood Community Church constitution, the church board shall appoint a committee from among themselves to secure suitable candidates, submit their names to the board, interview each candidate individually, and act in the affirmative or negative on each candidate individually in turn – not collectively. The board will ultimately present one candidate to the church membership for a vote.

 

  • The search committee members are Rob Barnes (elder chair, search committee chair), Orville Christeson (board chair), Al Curtis (elder), Karl Klundt (deacon), Dan Kromminga (deacon chair), Jeff Tompkins (treasurer), George Young (Sunday school superintendent).

 

  • The committee is meeting weekly to address the following tasks:
  1. Establish criteria for the assessment of each applicant
  2. Establish a process for determining how an applicant becomes a candidate
  3. Formulate a list of groups from the church body who will also interact with each candidate

 

  • The committee has engaged a job search consultant, Lancaster Search, to assist us with finding applicants and their initial screening.

 

  • The committee has completed the Senior Pastor job description and it is now posted online at lancastersearch.com. We have already received applications from Lancaster. Copies of the job description are available in the foyer.

 

 

  • We request your prayers in the following areas.
  1. Wisdom for the committee
  2. Qualified applicants continue applying
  3. Unity in our church family during this process

  • The search committee members are Rob Barnes (elder chair, search committee chair), Orville Christeson (board chair), Al Curtis (elder), Karl Klundt (deacon), Dan Kromminga (deacon chair), Jeff Tompkins (treasurer), George Young (Sunday school superintendent).

 

  • The search committee is meeting weekly to address the following tasks:
  1.  Finalize the Senior Pastor job description
  2.  Develop a list of Christian colleges, universities, and organizations to post the job description
  3.  Establish criteria for the assessment of each applicant
  4.  Establish a process for determining how an applicant becomes a candidate
  5.  Formulate a list of groups from the church body who will also interact with each candidate

 

  • The search committee has set a goal of mid-January to present a draft of the Senior Pastor job description to the church board.

 

  • The search committee has set a goal of late January to finalize and post the Senior Pastor job description.

 

  • Our goal is to communicate openly and often in various forms with the congregation.
